The European Championship 2024 is less than a year away. With that in mind, the FA chiefs are conscious of rumours floating around and potentially preparing for the possibility that England manager Gareth Southgate may be leaving the team after the championship has ended next year.
The football competition will take place in Germany next year and all eyes will be on the news whether the rumours are true or not. There have also been some rumours that Harry Kane may also be leaving the team for good once the championship has concluded.
Although the answers to these rumours are becoming clearer every day, we shouldn’t rule out the possibility of Southgate staying until the World Cup in 2026 is done with.
The beginning of this expectation of his resignation started during the last World Cup in Qatar, but Gareth opted to stay with the team and show his loyalties despite fans speculating that he was given an attractive job offer elsewhere.
The England team welcomed some new players for the upcoming Euros, Levi Colwill and Eddie Nketiah, and Southgate was in appearance to welcome them to the team ahead of Saturday’s game. The Euros are a great chance for England to gain some additional skills and tactics to compete their way to the final.
The weekly meetings with the coaches will be repetitive to the team but are vital to being successful during their time in the championship. England has already been rumoured as a favourite team to watch during the games next year. With our fingers crossed, we are hoping that they at least reach the final round. To win it would be excellent for the country after their devastating loss in 2021 (Euro 2020).
There are also a few other names that also have all eyes on their career moves as fans are expecting them to be leaving the team after the Euros 2024, and without them will be such a loss to the team. These players have been rumoured as:
- Harry Kane
- Jordan Henderson
- Kyle Walker
- Kieran Trippier
Talks of a replacement have been bouncing back and forth and people are thinking it will most likely be Pep Guardiola, the current manager of Manchester City. This has been stated by other news articles as England’s dream manager.
