What a rollercoaster ride it was this weekend at the Singapore Grand Prix. We watched this weekend unfold with our jaws dropped. This blog is going to be covering all major highlights of the 18th race on the Formula One annual calendar, so let’s begin!
This weekend has definitely been one for the books, every team had something major going on however this week, McLaren took the win. Lando in first place and Oscar in third, it was another victorious weekend for the Papaya team.
On a sadder note, will this be the end of the road for Daniel Ricciardo’s Formula One career? After an emotional race on Sunday, we saw the Australian driver soaking in every moment as though it was his last race. It was very emotional to see the ‘Honey Badger’ himself looking sad especially when he is always smiling for the cameras. Are the rumours true? It will soon come to light.
Moving onto Ferrari, why was Carlos Sainz fined? Let’s talk about it. Sainz has unfortunately been hit with a hefty fine of €25,000. This is because during the 3rd Qualifying session of the weekend, Carlos crossed the track after his crash while the session was still in place. This is a massive no-no in motorsport due to obvious safety reasons. The FIA had investigated the situation and gave the Ferrari, soon to be Williams, driver a fine for breaching the rules.
Finally let’s talk about Mercedes and their drivers on the brink of heat stroke? You heard us correctly, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton got out of their cars looking a bit worse for wear. After them both reporting that they were suffering from “borderline heatstroke” this resulted in them missing all post-race interviews.
Wow! What a week it has been for the 10 teams in this adrenaline-fueled sport. We can’t wait to see what the USA Grand Prix brings us on the 20th of October.
