Exciting time to be a Newcastle United fan as they are extending the club with a new player…
The Sweden international striker, aged 22, would be a huge boost to the team after the injury of Callum Wilson, who injured his hamstring during the 3-3 draw with Manchester City on 21st August.
After making his debut at the age of 16, Isak appeared as a substitute in the 75th minute of the Swedish Cup resulting in a 6-0 victory. He gained recognition last year at the European Championships while playing for Sweden’s Football Club.
Isak has scored 44 goals in 132 appearances for the Sociedad team and nine in 37 for his own country. The fee for the 22-year-old striker could reach £63m and will overshadow the £40m they paid in 2019 for midfielder, Joelinton.
The club paid £35m plus extras for Bruno Guimaraes, a fellow Brazilian midfielder back in January of last year. Isak’s signing would be a significant change from the new owners of Newcastle United.
The signing of Isak would double the spending this summer to just short of £120m after the signings of Targett, Botman, and Pope and brings the total to approximately £200m after the new owners took over the club last October.
Club Manager, Eddie Howe, recently admitted he wants more talent, especially younger talent, through the door this year, with Alexander Isak the most recent player connected with a transfer to Tyneside.
Gary Lineker took to Twitter during the Euros to praise the rising star.
“Don’t think there’s much doubt that Alexander Isak will attract a lot of attention from clubs across Europe. Exceptional talent.”
It is a perfect deal for the Magpies and ticks every single box at this stage of their modern era.
