February 2026: Your Guide to This Month’s Biggest Sporting Events

Right then, if you thought January was busy, wait until you see what February has in store. We’re talking Winter Olympics, the Six Nations kicking off, and the Super Bowl all crammed into one ridiculous month. Get the kettle on, because you’re going to be parked in front of the telly quite a bit.

Winter Olympics in Italy

The big one. Milano Cortina 2026 runs from 6th to 22nd February, and it’s going to be absolutely brilliant. Italy knows how to put on a show, and with the opening ceremony at the San Siro and the closing do in Verona’s Roman arena, they’re not messing about.

You’ve got all the classics: downhill skiing in the Alps, ice hockey, figure skating, curling (yes, that thing where they sweep ice furiously), and let’s not forget the snowboarding. Basically, if it involves snow, ice, or going ridiculously fast down a mountain, it’s happening.

GB will be sending a strong squad, so expect some late nights if you want to catch the medal events live. The time difference isn’t too bad though, which is a nice change from trying to watch the Games from the other side of the world.

Super Bowl LX

Right, 8th February. Levi’s Stadium, California. The Super Bowl. Even if American football isn’t your thing, this is worth staying up for. The halftime show alone usually delivers something memorable (remember when the power went out?), and the adverts are genuinely entertaining, which tells you something about American telly.

The Philadelphia Eagles won it last year and they’ll fancy their chances again. Expect lots of hype, massive hits, and about four hours for what’s technically 60 minutes of game time. Pour yourself a coffee around midnight and settle in.

Six Nations Rugby

Now we’re talking. The Six Nations kicks off on 5th February, and for the first time ever, it’s starting on a Thursday night with France hosting Ireland in Paris. Bold move, that.

The weekend carries on with Scotland travelling to Rome to face Italy on Saturday 7th, before England welcome Wales to Twickenham. England versus Wales. At Twickenham. Need we say more?

France are the defending champions and they looked quality last year, but Ireland will be fuming after missing out despite winning back-to-back titles in 2023 and 2024. England had a decent showing last time out and will be looking to go one better. Scotland, bless them, haven’t won it since 1999 when it was still the Five Nations, but hope springs eternal.

The tournament runs through to 14th March, which means you’ve got weeks of brilliant rugby to look forward to. Clear your weekends now.

T20 Cricket World Cup

If you’re a cricket fan, you’re spoilt rotten. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup starts on 7th February and runs through to 8th March across India and Sri Lanka. It’s the short format, so plenty of big hitting, dramatic finishes, and the odd bit of controversy. England will be in the mix, obviously.

A Bit of Culture on the Isle of Man

Look, it’s not all about sport, is it? If you fancy something a bit different, the Isle of Man has got you covered. On 28th February, the Gaiety Theatre in Douglas is hosting Nigel Clark from Dodgy (remember “Good Enough”? Course you do) alongside singer-songwriter Tom Bright.

It’s a one-night-only thing, intimate venue, bit of nostalgia, bit of storytelling. Perfect for a February weekend away, really. The island’s beautiful that time of year, and there’s plenty to do between gigs and pints. If you’re thinking about it, best book your Isle of Man accommodation sooner rather than later because these things fill up quick.

What Else?

The Winter Paralympics kick off on 6th March in the same Italian venues, so the action doesn’t stop when the Olympics finish. Plus, there’s all the usual football, basketball, and whatever else you’re into scattered throughout the month.

February 2026 is shaping up to be absolutely massive for sport. Winter Olympics, Six Nations, Super Bowl, cricket… you’re going to need a bigger telly and a lot more biscuits.

The good news? Most of it will be on BBC or ITV, so no messing about with dodgy streams or expensive subscriptions. Just sit back, enjoy, and try not to spend the entire month on the sofa. (We won’t judge if you do though.)
