Is Erik Ten Hag’s Job in Jeopardy?

After a difficult season, Manchester United’s manager, Erik Ten Hag, may be in danger of losing his job. The former Ajax manager was appointed as Manchester United’s manager in the summer of 2022. He had great success in his first season, winning the Carabao Cup and finishing third in the Premier League. This was a huge improvement for United in comparison to the season prior, where they received their worst points tally in their Premier League history. It is now close to the end of Erik Ten Hag’s second season, and there is debate over whether Erik should keep his role at the club or say goodbye for good. In this blog today, we are going to discuss, where has it all gone wrong for Erik Ten Hag? And if staying at the notorious club is really the way forward.

Manchester United currently sit sixth in the Premier League, with nine games left to play. The team has had an injury-hit season, losing important players such as Martinez and Casemiro. Could this be to blame for United’s downfall? Some would argue no and say it is all down to Erik Ten Hag’s poor choice in player signings. The manager has spent an immense amount of money on signings since his arrival, many of which are yet to work out. Other fans believe Ten Hag has not developed United’s style of play, and this is causing serious repercussions for the team. United’s continuous losses are only putting greater pressure on Erik Ten Hag, but is he the one to blame?

Since the great regime of Sir Alex Ferguson came to an end back in 2013, Manchester United have been stuck in the same cycle, with every manager proving to be unsuccessful. Sacking Ten Hag would continue this cycle. Although it has been an atrocious season, United still have a chance at gaining some silverware as they have reached the FA Cup Semi-Final. Only time will tell if Erik Ten Hag is worthy of being Manchester United’s manager.
